overcoming resistance

I read a book once called "The War of Art". It is what inspired me, after four years of putting it off, to finish a difficult workout program. It is what inspired me to start writing again, and to start stretching every night. It is what inspired me to buy this domain name and type up the blog post you are now reading.

Essentially, the main idea of the novel is as follows: Everyone has two lives. One is your current state, and the second is the un-lived life: that small voice in your head that constantly voices your hopes and dreams. It is the life that deep down you desire to be living, but can't figure out why you can't cover the gap. The force pulling you away from working towards this seemingly better life ahead is called resistance. It is unshakeable. Immoveable. Invisible. But it is undeniably there, and we all suffer from it.

I strongly encourage you to read OR listen to the audiobook. The author's ideas are beyond anything I've ever thought about before, and it changed my life.

So, brought to you in part by this book, is this blog: Edge of Youth. In my numerous attempts to define what it is without quite knowing the answer myself, I find myself limiting its possibilities. For now, it is a personal blog about my own experiences as a young adult. We'll leave it at that for now, and see where this journey takes me.
